Bio
The versatile Richmond Flowers was one of the most exciting athletes to come to Tennessee, and left with the same title.
He garnered All-America honors his junior season of 1967 as wingback for the Vols. He only carried the ball 10 times for 24 yards, but led Tennessee with 41 receptions for 585 yards and four touchdowns.
Flowers, a world-class hurdler, missed the 1968 Olympics following a hamstring injury. Later that fall, he returned to the Vols and moved to tailback. His junior year was also his best at returning kicks with 173 total yards. Flowers finished with a career average of 21.6 yards on kickoff returns.
A stellar track star, Flowers won one NCAA title and six SEC championships.

- Rushed 111 times, gaining 375 yards and scoring seven times - all were career-highs

- Returned just four kickoffs for 87 yards
- Carried the ball 20 times for 101 yards in Tennessee's 24-7 win over Georgia Tech
- Found the end zone twice against UCLA, helping the Vols to a 42-18 victory
- Scored UT's lone touchdown in a 10-9 win over Alabama
1967 - JUNIOR
- Had a breakout year as the Vols went 9-2, were named National Champions by Litkenhous and won the SEC title, going 6-0 in league play
- Was named first-team All-America
- Selected by the AP for the All-SEC second-team
- Set career highs in receptions with 41, receiving yards at 585 and yards per catch, averaging 14.3
- Snagged four touchdowns passes during the year

1966 - SOPHOMORE
- Played in 10 games for the Vols as they went 8-3, setting the stage for a national and SEC title winning season to follow
- Pulled down 35 passes for 407 yards, five touchdowns and averaged 11.6 yards per catch
- His five TD receptions were a career-high
- Registered five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Vols' 18-12 win over Syracuse in the Gator Bowl
- Carried the ball 19 times for 82 yards
- Also returned seven kicks for 151 yards
