Bio
Chris White had one opportunity and he made the most of it.
As a fifth-year senior in 1985, White made his first career start in the season opener against UCLA as an injury replacement. Three interceptions later, White had secured his place as the Vols' starter the rest of the season. He recorded nine interceptions on the season to lead the NCAA. White ended with 62 tackles and three fumble recoveries.
His place in the Tennessee secondary that Cinderella season earned him All-America honors as the Vols went on to become SEC champions and defeat No. 2 Miami 35-7 in the Sugar Bowl for a 9-1-2 and No. 4 national finish.

- Played 11 games in the Vols' secondary, leading the NCAA with nine interceptions and 168 interception return yards
- Named All-America by Scripps-Howard in addition to All-SEC honors from the coaches and AP voters
- Totaled a career-best 62 tackles, ranking fourth on the team
- In his first career start, picked off three passes against UCLA and was later named SEC co-defensive player of the week
- Recorded a 55-yard pick-six in UT's 40-0 romp over Rutgers
- Had two interceptions and a blocked punt to earn SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors as the Vols defeated Ole Miss 34-14
- Snagged his NCAA-leading ninth interception in Tennessee's 35-7 Sugar Bowl victory over second-ranked Miami
