Bio
When Jack Reynolds made the move from fullback to linebacker his sophomore year, he became an instant success for the Vols. That success was proven his senior year of 1969 when, at middle linebacker, he earned All-SEC and All-America honors.
"Hacksaw," as he was known during his tenure on The Hill, combined with fellow All-America linebacker Steve Kiner to give the Vols a dynamic duo at the position.
His stop of Heisman winner Steve Owens of Oklahoma on a fourth-and-1 late in the game at the 1968 Orange Bowl gave the Vols a final chance to win. Reynolds helped lead Tennessee to two SEC titles in 1967 and 1969 before going on to a successful career in the NFL with the Rams and 49ers.
