Three Vols Wrap Up Play at Champaign Futures

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Three Vols concluded play at the M15 Champaign Futures this week in Champaign, Illinois, as senior Emile Hudd, graduate student Adam Walton and sophomore Johannus Monday represented the Vols at the event.
The doubles play of Hudd and Walton highlighted the week, as the Big Orange duo advanced to the semifinal round in the doubles main draw.
Round one saw the Tennessee pair defeat the pairing of Parth Aggarwal/Eric Sock 6-0, 6-1. In the second round, Hudd and Walton overcame Martin Damm/Tyler Zink 5-7, 6-3, 10-7.
Their run ended in the semifinal round, as the Vols' duo narrowly fell to Kweisi Kenyatte/Karlis Ozolins 6-7(7), 6-7(4). Hudd and Walton picked up four doubles ATP points during their run.
Hudd began play in the singles qualifying draw, defeating Chanchai Sookton-eng 7-5, 6-2, and took down Joshua Sheehy 6-4, 6-2, advancing out of qualifying with a second consecutive straight-set victory.
After reaching the main draw, Hudd handled Georgia's Tristan McCormick 6-3, 6-4, on Wednesday before falling in round two, 2-6, 5-7 to Drew Baird. Hudd garnered the first singles ATP point of his career while in Champaign.
In the singles main draw, Walton dropped his first round match, 3-6, 6-7(4) to Tyler Zink.
Competing in the qualifying draw, Monday defeated Kweisi Kenyatte 6-4, 6-4, before dropping his second round match against Blaise Bicknell 3-6, 4-6.
Next, the Vols will serve host to the ITA Regionals, scheduled for Sept. 23-27.
