Woodruff Reveals 2027 Vol Tennis Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Men's Tennis Head Coach Chris Woodruff announced his team's 2027 spring schedule on Thursday.
The Vols' slate consists of 10 non-conference competitions and 14 SEC matches, including three doubleheaders at home against out-of-league opponents.
UT will begin the dual match campaign in Knoxville on Jan. 9 with a doubleheader against ETSU and UNC Asheville. It marks the second year in a row the Vols' lid-lifter comes versus the Bucs. The Big Orange will then travel for its first road test of the year against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Jan. 17.
The Volunteers return to the road to participate in their eighth consecutive ITA Kickoff Weekend, going up against Mississippi State on Jan. 23 and either North Carolina or Southern California in the championship or consolation match on the following day at the Starkville Regional. The winner of the regional advances to the ITA National Indoor Championships.
Following that trip to the Magnolia State, Tennessee is back on Rocky Top for four straight home matches, hosting a pair of doubleheaders over a three-day span. The first of those features contests against Furman and Tennessee Tech on Jan. 29. The next set of matches will come versus Belmont on Jan. 31. If the Vols were previously victorious in two matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 23-24, they are slated to end the non-conference portion of the schedule Feb. 12-16 at ITA Nationals. Host sites for that event include the South Carolina cities of Clemson and Columbia.
Southeastern Conference play begins on Feb. 25, as Kentucky travels to Knoxville and serves as the Vols' opening league opponent for the second year in a row. The Big Orange will then begin a busy March by making their way to Gainesville to battle Florida on March 4 and then to Columbia to face South Carolina on March 6.
After that road trip, the team returns to Knoxville for a short homestand, welcoming LSU and Mississippi State on March 12 and 14, respectively. The meeting with MSU will be a rematch of the teams' ITA Kickoff Weekend clash in January.
Next, Tennessee will embark on back-to-back road trips to compete in four matches. First, it faces a weekend slate at Arkansas on March 18 and Oklahoma on March 20. It then heads to Georgia on March 25 and to Auburn on March 27.
The last four regular-season home matches of 2026-27 will be played at the beginning of April over two consecutive weeks. Tennessee welcomes Lone Star State opponents Texas A&M and Texas on April 1 and 3. The following weekend, the Vols play host to Ole Miss on April 9 and Vanderbilt on April 11.
UT will conclude conference play on April 18 with a match at Alabama before heading to Nashville for the SEC Championships. Vanderbilt will serve as host of the league event from April 21-25.
NCAA Tournament regional and super regional match dates and hosts sites will be determined following conference tournaments. The national quarterfinals, semifinals and championship matches, meanwhile, will be contested from May 20-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
