Vols Comeback Falls Short Against #1 Wake Forest, 4-1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Men's Tennis battled back but came up short against No. 1 Wake Forest, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

UT dropped their first doubles point of the year after losing sets on courts one and two. The Demon Deacons were able to capitalize on court two with the tandem of Aryan Shah and Luca Pow besting Jose Garcia and Boruch Skierkier, 6-1. The other two courts were a battle but Wake Forest captured court one to close out doubles.

Wake Forest took the next two points with wins on singles courts four and six. That's when UT started their comeback forcing third sets in every remaining singles match. Alejandro Moreno captured the sole point for UT with a huge comeback win over No. 14 DK Suresh, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Vols comeback fell short after Jose Garcia was defeated by No. 15 Luca pow, 1-6, 6-3, 4-6.

Dragos Cazacu and Jan Kobierski showed tremendous grit, forcing a third set by winning with a 7-5 ledger in each of their second sets. Both matches were a dogfight, but they went unfinished after Wake Forest was able to clinch the match.

UP NEXT
Tennessee will be back tomorrow to take on No. 3 TCU, last season's NCAA runner-up. The match will be played at 1 p.m. ET at Goodfirend Tennis Center. For the match, the first 60 fans in the door will receive a Vol Tennis t-shirt.
