Track Central: Arkansas Invitational/Vanderbilt Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — More than 50 Tennessee track & field athletes are set to compete Friday and Saturday as the Vols and Lady Vols have two meets on the docket this weekend. A group of UT sprinters, hurdlers, throwers and jumpers will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Arkansas Invitational on Friday, while the Tennessee distance, pole vault, jumps and sprint crews will be represented Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville.
The Arkansas Invitational runs all day Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center, beginning at 1 p.m. ET with the men's shot put and concluding at approximately 9:45 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay. Running events will be streamed online via SEC Network+, and live results for the entire meet will be provided by Flash Results. The final Arkansas Invitational schedule can be viewed HERE.
The Vanderbilt Invitational will be contested Friday and Saturday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. Friday's action begins at 4 p.m. ET with the men's pole vault and concludes with the men's distance medley relay at 8:15 p.m., while Saturday's slate starts at 10 a.m. with the men's high jump and wraps up at 7:05 p.m. with the men's 3,000-meter. BIG ORANGE DEBUTS: Thirteen athletes are expected to make their first official appearances for Tennessee track & field on Saturday, including six true freshmen and seven transfers.
Arkansas Invitational (Friday, Jan. 16)
Additionally, Tennessee posted school records in both 300-meter dash events. Saad Hinti set the men's record with a 32.46, while Javonya Valcourt broke the Lady Vol mark with a 36.53. Andre Jackson II and Cydney Wright also posted top-three performances in program history in the event.
Esther Joseph earned a win in the women's 200 meters, running 23.11 to rank first nationally this season. The Vols also found success in the field events, sweeping the pole vault titles and going 1-2 in the men's weight throw. Tennessee capped the meet with strong showings in the 4x400-meter relays, including a victory by the men's squad, rounding out a productive day in Clemson.
RANKINGS UPDATE: As of Jan. 15, the Vols and Lady Vols have totaled 26 marks that rank top 16 on the NCAA Division I national qualifying list this season, including the No. 1 performances in the country in the men's 60-meter and women's 200-meter.
