Vols Wrap Up Play in Tulsa, Collect Five Singles Wins on Day Two of Bulldog Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Three members of the Tennessee men's tennis team accounted for five singles victories Saturday, while the doubles pair of Emile Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui saw their stellar run come to a close at the ITA All-American Championships.

Hudd and Mitsui, after advancing out of the qualifying round earlier in the week and reaching the semifinals with six consecutive wins in Tulsa, fell to Ohio State's Robert Cash and Matej Vocel Saturday, 2-6, 4-6.

In Athens for the Bulldog Invitational, junior Angel Diaz and freshman Conor Gannon were credited with consolation singles wins by way of walk-over in the morning session, over Oren Vasser (Miami) and Will Nolan (Auburn), respectively.

In other consolation action, graduate student Mark Wallner defeated UNC Wilmington's Bekhzod Rasamatov in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (6). Gannon recorded a straight-set victory over Davide Innocenti (UNCW), 6-3, 6-4, while Diaz won in straight sets over Andy Ilie of Dartmouth, 7-5, 6-2.

Wallner later dropped his singles match versus Joubert Klopper (Vanderbilt) due to retirement and Wallner/Diaz fell to Auburn's Jan Galka/Jackson Ross, 8-7 (6) in doubles play.
