'Katie[apos]s athleticism on land finally started to mesh with her swimming in her junior season, and we[apos]re really excited to see that combination of abilities blossom in her final season. She has developed a stroke and a competitive mindset that could make her an integral part of our sprint relays. '
AT TENNESSEE:
2007-08: Was top Lady Vol in the 50y free at the season-opening dual at Louisville, placing second in 23.78...Swam legs on the runner-up 200y and 400y freestyle relays at the Hoosierland Open...Also was sixth in the 50y free in a season-best 23.58 and swam legs on the eighth-place 400y medley relay and seventh-place 200y medley relay at the Indiana-hosted meet...Was a member of the first-place 400y medley, 200y medley and 200y free relays against Northwestern...Captured second in the 50y free in the win over the Wildcats...Finished third in the 50y free and was part of the second-place 200y medley in a dual meet win over Indiana...Was a member of the winning 200y free relay against Georgia...2006-07: At SECs, posted season-best times of 23.67 in the 50y free and 52.13 in the 100y free...Anchored the 200y medley relay and 200y free relays to sixth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively...Helped the 200 free relay achieve aN NCAA qualifying time...In the UT win over Louisville, Gehring claimed runner-up honors in the 50y free and swam as part of the 200y relay team that took top honors...Was a member of the 200y free relay team that picked up top honors in the Auburn/Stanford competition...At the Minnesota Invite, swam the anchor leg in the 200y free relay for the winning team...Contributed to the Big Orange point tally against Georgia as a member of the runner-up squad for the 200y free relay...Against Florida, was a member of the second-place 200y free...2005-06: Posted a season-best 52.30 to take 27th in the 100y free at her first Southeastern Conference Championships...Turned in season-best efforts in the 50y free and the 100y butterfly at the Purdue Invite...Left the competition in her wake in the 50y free with a 24.32 readout en route to picking up her first collegiate win at Alabama...Assisted with the Orange and White[apos]s campaign-christening triumph at Louisville by swimming with the victorious 200y medley relay quartet...Strung together back-to-back runner-up showings in the 50y free in dual-meet victories versus Kentucky and South Carolina.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Earned All-America recognition in the 50y and 100y freestyle in 2004...Was an honorable mention selection in those events in 2002 and [apos]03...Gehring claimed the Class 2A state crown in the 50y andy 100y free in 2004 en route to being named the Pinch-a-Penny Florida Swimmer of the Year...She was selected as the team MVP of the Charlotte High School swimming team from 2002-04.
