Men’s Tennis Central: #8 Tennessee at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Riding a seven-match winning streak, the eighth-ranked Tennessee men's tennis team closes its regular season Sunday with a road contest at Arkansas. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. ET.

Tennessee cruised past No. 25 Ole Miss, 6-1, in its final home match of the regular season.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS
By meeting Sunday, Tennessee (19-6, 9-2 SEC) and Arkansas (12-13, 0-11 SEC) write chapter No. 45 of a series that began in 1973. UT leads the Razorbacks, 28-16, all-time and has won 13 of the past 16 matchups against the Hogs. A win Sunday would give Tennessee its best finish to SEC play since a 10-2 effort in 2021.

Arkansas, winless in SEC play this year, has lost 12 consecutive matches. Its last win came on Feb. 26 at home over Omaha, 5-2. Last season, the Vols routed Arkansas in Knoxville, 6-1, to avenge a 2021 loss to the Razorbacks, 4-3, in Fayetteville.

HUDD AN ALL-AROUND FORCE
• This dual season, two-time reigning SEC Player of the Week Emile Hudd is a combined 27-6 at the No. 2 singles and doubles lineup positions. When combining Hudd's record in SEC matches across the singles and doubles courts, he is 18-4 this season.

DUBS DUBS
• In 25 matches this year, UT has won the doubles point 22 times. In its 91 matches since the start of the 2021 dual season, Tennessee has won the doubles point 71 times for a .780 clip in that span.

JO MOMENTUM
• Johannus Monday, a two-time ITA Singles All-American, is a combined 32-5 in dual singles and doubles matches this spring. At 16-2 in singles and 16-3 on the doubles courts, 26 of those 32 total victories are at the No. 1 lineup spot (13-2 at No. 1 singles and 13-3 at No. 1 doubles).

HUDD EYES THE CENTURY MARK
• With his doubles win with Shunsuke Mitsui vs. Ole Miss Thursday, Hudd collected the 97th overall doubles win of his career. Over half of those wins (54-of-97) have come in Tennessee orange. Hudd earned 43 doubles victories while playing at Oklahoma State.

LIVING IN THE RANKINGS
• With the ITA's April 11 update of its singles and doubles rankings, Tennessee has had either a top-10 singles acclaim or a top-10 doubles pair in 22 of the past 23 dual-season rankings updates, dating to March 24, 2021. The Vols not only have each this week, but a pair of top-three rankings with Monday standing at the No. 2 singles ranking and the duo of Monday and Pat Harper coming in at No. 3 in the doubles rankings.

HISTORY IN SIGHT
• Harper, with 92 career overall doubles wins at Tennessee, is three wins away from cracking the top 10 on the program's all-time doubles wins list. Should he reach 100 career doubles wins by season's end, he would become just the ninth Vol to ever do so in a career.

QUICK HITTERS
• Hudd leads Tennessee in match clinches this season, with five. Mitsui and Angel Diaz are tied for second in that regard, with four apiece. Six of Tennessee's seven wins in its active win streak have been clinched by either Hudd or Mitsui, with Diaz clinching the other.
• Blaise Bicknell is one win shy of 40 career dual singles victories.
• Mitsui stands at 60 career overall singles wins, 40 career dual singles wins and 20 career SEC singles wins. Mitsui has mirrored his 10-1 SEC singles mark from last season, at 10-1 entering Sunday's Arkansas match.
