Men’s Tennis Central: #1 Tennessee vs. #4 Florida

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 1 Tennessee men's tennis team returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, as it plays host to the fourth-ranked Gators of Florida in the second match of a three-match homestand. The match will take place indoors at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

Admission is free and free tennis parking for spectators is located in SC40 at the Kingston Pike Building. A shuttle service will be provided from SC40 to Barksdale Stadium. Despite winning the doubles point for an 12th time this season, Tennessee fell in a tightly-contested battle to seventh-ranked South Carolina Friday evening, 4-3.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
Tennessee's match with Florida Sunday is the 76th meeting in the all-time series, dating to 1949. The Gators lead the series 45-30 and the teams have split the past four matchups. A win for the Vols (14-3, 2-1 SEC) would give them their eighth win over a ranked opponent this season and second-consecutive victory over Florida (10-2, 3-0 SEC). The Gators have opened SEC play with a 7-0 win over then-sixth-ranked South Carolina, a 4-3 over then-ninth-ranked Kentucky and most recently, a 4-0 sweep over No. 8 Georgia Friday in Athens.

Fifth-year Vol Adam Walton etched his name further into the record books Friday, as his 6-3 doubles win with Pat Harper marked his 92nd career doubles victory the 200th overall win of his Tennessee career, including all singles and doubles matches. Only eight players in program history had accumulated 200 overall wins in a career prior to Walton doing so Friday. He now owns 108 career singles victories and 92 doubles wins.

Tennessee has won the doubles point in each of its first three SEC matches and has won it 12 times in 17 matches this dual season. The Vols are 11-1 when capturing the doubles point.
QUALITY AND QUANTITY
Seven of Tennessee's 14 wins this season have come over top-25 opponents, including three triumphs over top-10 foes. Those seven top-25 wins are the most in the SEC, with Florida owning six such victories this season.
