Lady Vols Wrap Up Fall at Head of the Charles
October 23, 2022 | Rowing
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Tennessee rowing concluded its fall slate Sunday afternoon, as the top two Lady Vol eights competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
"The athletes raced aggressively today in Boston," head coach Lisa Glenn said. "Our 1V8 finished behind nine and ahead of 16 collegiate crews. While not satisfied, the crew laid down an aggressive 3-mile piece and looks forward to continued improvement in the preparation weeks to come before spring. The 2V8 races well, making clear strides forward from their performance earlier in the fall. We are pleased to have developed two eights for this competition, knowing this is critical in reaching our spring goals. Our team felt the reality of the phrase 'Everywhere Tennessee' as people from all over were cheering for the Rowing Vols as they raced down the course."
Racing in the Women's Championship Eights event with a field of 29 boats from the nation's top programs, UT's 1V8 lineup of Elizabeth Walley, Emma Seawright, Sydney Pardy, Reagan Long, Katie Rice, Logan Yates, Natalia Loram, Kate Schildmeyer and Cait Whittard finished 13th with a time of 15:48.040.
The Lady Vol 2V8 took 21st with a 16:08.662 mark. Abigail Bacci coxed the crew of Casey Chronister, Alyssa Biernat, Gabriela Natale, Sheya Lavin, Erin Gifford, Riley Ferdelman, Paige Reymann and Haley Savastano.
The Big Orange will be back in competition during the spring.
