KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The College Sports Communicators announced that four Tennessee rowers and two Tennessee women's golfers were named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team.
Â
Tennessee rowers Meg Flanagan, Ariella Jeffery, Sheya Lavin and Hannah Richardson were recognized for their academic and athletic achievements throughout the season. Lady Vol golfers Sofie Engeseth and Kyra Van Kan also earned honors for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the course. For Engeseth, Flanagan, and Richardson, the recognition marks the second consecutive year they have represented Tennessee on the Academic All-District At-Large Team.
Â
Student-athletes must meet minimum criteria to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team. Rowers must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and compete in 90% of the team's competitions or race in one of the top three boats at the NCAA Championships. Golf nominees must also maintain a 3.50 GPA and participate in 75% of the team's varsity scoring events or compete in the lineup at the conference championship tournament.
Â
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections for women's at-large sports will be announced July 7.
Â
Van Kan, a sophomore for Tennessee women's golf in 2025-26, produced one of the best individual seasons in program history. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native finished the year with the lowest scoring average (71.00) and the most rounds at par or better (21) in a single season in program history. A second-team All-SEC and third-team All-American selection, Van Kan recorded six top-10 finishes during the 2025-26 campaign, including a tie for fifth place at the NCAA Championships, the second-best individual finish at the event in program history.
Â
Engeseth, a junior in 2025-26, registered two top-10 finishes during the season. Most notably, the Oslo, Norway, native went 3-0 in match play at the 2026 SEC Championship, helping Tennessee capture its first women's golf conference title in program history. Her standout performance included a clutch birdie on the 18th hole in the semifinals to force a playoff, which she won to secure a pivotal point for the Lady Vols.
Â
Flanagan delivered another standout season for Tennessee rowing. The senior earned CRCA first-team All-America honors for the second time in her collegiate career and was named one of four finalists for the CRCA Athlete of the Year Award. The Blenheim, New Zealand, native helped lead the Lady Vols to the SEC Championship, the program's first conference title since 2012. For her efforts, she was named SEC Rower of the Year and earned All-SEC honors. Flanagan competed in the first varsity eight at the NCAA Championships, helping the crew finish third in the grand final. The result helped Tennessee place third in the team standings, tying the best finish in program history.
Â
Jeffery earned her first career Academic All-District honor. The sophomore from Highlands Ranch, California, competed in the second varsity eight throughout the season and helped the crew advance to the grand final at the NCAA Championships, where Tennessee placed fourth. Jeffery also played a key role in the Lady Vols' conference title, helping the second varsity eight earn a runner-up finish at the SEC Championships. Earlier this season, she was named to the SEC Community Service Team in recognition of her service efforts.
Â
Competing primarily in the second varsity eight, Lavin helped the crew place fourth at the NCAA Championships. That result contributed to Tennessee tying the best team finish in program history with a third-place showing in the final standings. Lavin also helped the second varsity eight earn a silver medal at the SEC Championships, where the crew posted a time of 6:22.968. The performance played a key role in Tennessee securing the overall conference title.
Â
Richardson earned Academic All-District recognition for the second time in her collegiate career. The senior received the first All-America honor of her career earlier this month, earning CRCA second-team All-America accolades. At the SEC Championships, Richardson helped the first varsity eight capture a gold medal with a time of 6:06.939. The victory secured the conference championship for Tennessee, and Richardson later earned All-SEC honors. At the NCAA Championships, she helped guide the first varsity eight to a third-place finish in the grand final.
