Mitsui Advances to Quarterfinals at ITA Ohio Valley Regional

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Highlighting Saturday's action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional was Shunsuke Mitsui, a freshman on the Tennessee men's tennis team, who advanced to the quarterfinal round in the singles main draw of the tournament.

In his round of 16 singles match, Mitsui claimed a convincing 6-4, 6-2 victory over ETSU's Frazier Rengifo. The win marks his fifth singles win as a Vol and his fourth consecutive victory in singles play.

Junior Angel Diaz's run in the singles main draw came to a close Saturday, as he was defeated by Gabriel Diallo, 3-6, 4-6.

The round of 16 of the doubles consolation bracket saw Diaz and Mitsui handle Orlando/Wojtalik (Ball State), 8-4. The Big Orange duo followed that win with another victory in the doubles consolation quarterfinals, defeating Purdue's Dudek/Sachdev, 8-4.

Mitsui's quarterfinal singles match is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET Sunday.
