Golf Central: NCAA Noblesville Regional
May 16, 2021 | Men's Golf
The No. 3-seeded Tennessee men's golf team is set to begin NCAA action this week, teeing off from the Noblesville Regional.
Â
The Noblesville Regional, as well as the other five regionals around the nation, is scheduled to run from Monday through Wednesday. The top five teams from each regional will then advance to the national championships, to be played from May 28 to June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Â
The Vols' No. 3 seed is the program's highest-ever seed since the NCAA switched its postseason to the six-regional format in 2010.
Â
Noblesville, Indiana—located less than 30 miles north of Indianapolis—is home to The Sagamore Club, which is set to host the Noblesville NCAA Regional. Of the six regionals spread out around the nation, the Noblesville Regional is the only one without a host school participating, as Ball State did not make the field.
Â
Tennessee wrapped up its 2020-21 season by finishing in the top four its final three tournaments, including a second-place stroke play finish at the SEC Championships—the program's best since 2007. The Vols also enter NCAA competition currently sporting their best SEC win percentage since 1995 and best overall win percentage since 2009.
Â
Despite the 2020 golf postseason being canceled due to COVID-19, four players on Tennessee's current roster still boast NCAA Regional experience, as both Hunter Wolcott and Rhys Nevin competed at both the 2018 Columbus Regional and the 2019 Athens Regional, while Brayden Garrison and Tyler Johnson competed in 2019.
Â
