White Extends Brennan Webb’s Contract Through 2031
June 15, 2026 | Men's Golf
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following a strong 2025-26 campaign featuring two tournament wins and a tie for seventh place at the NCAA Championships, Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White announced that he has extended Tennessee men's golf head coach Brennan Webb's contract through the 2030-31 season.
"Brennan has guided our men's golf program to unprecedented heights, culminating in matching the best finish in our history this season," said White. "We are excited to secure his long-term commitment on Rocky Top as we continue working toward our goal of becoming the nation's best!"
In his eighth season at the helm, Webb led the Volunteers to a third consecutive NCAA Championship berth. Tennessee closed the final tournament of the season with their best finish in the event since 1981, falling just short of qualifying for the match play quarterfinals in a four-for-two playoff. The highlight of the season for the Vols was an impressive victory in March at the Pauma Valley Invitational, where the team finished atop a field consisting of eight top-15 opponents.
Beyond team success, Webb has proven effective at individual player development on Rocky Top. This is exemplified by the development of Lance Simpson, who tied for eighth place at the NCAA Championships to wrap up a five-year career with Tennessee.
The Knoxville, Tennessee, native was named to the 2026 All-SEC Second Team and garnered Third Team All-American honors, marking the ninth All-American award a Vol has received under Webb's leadership.
Furthermore, current Vols Jackson Herrington and Chase Kyes, as well as VFL Caleb Surratt, who played for Webb in the 2022-23 season, will each compete in this weekend's U.S. Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills. It will be the second major of the year for Herrington, who tied for low amateur honors at the 2026 Masters Tournament.
"I continue to be honored to coach at The University of Tennessee," said Webb. "We have the best president, the best chancellor, the best athletic director, and, most importantly, the most passionate and supportive fan base in the country."
"All of this allows us to continue to push and extend our boundaries of achievement to the highest levels. In today's college landscape there is no better place to compete and coach than on Rocky Top!"
Currently sitting at 753 wins with the Vols, Webb will look to surpass the 800-win mark as he enters his ninth season with Tennessee in 2026.
