Vols Tied for Second Through One Round at NCAA Regionals

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The third-seeded Tennessee men's golf team is tied for second place and just three strokes out of the lead through one round at the Noblesville NCAA Regional.

In a round that had its start delayed due to weather and saw steady rain for most of the day, the Vols shot 3-under as a team on Monday, with two golfers—Hunter Wolcott and Brayden Garrison inside the top-five individually.

"We played a very solid round today in some tough conditions," head coach Brennan Webb said. "We had all five guys in control of their rounds all day, which is what you need this time of year."

Texas, the regional's No. 1 seed, leads the field after shooting 6-under as a team on Monday. Tied with Tennessee in second place are North Carolina and North Florida, the regional's second and fourth seeded teams, respectively.

The top five teams following Wednesday's final round will then advance to the national championships, to be played from May 28 to June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Wolcott and Garrison shot identical rounds of 2-under 70 for Tennessee on Monday and sit in a tie for fourth place overall entering Tuesday second round of play. The duo is just two strokes out of the individual lead.

Tied for 17th place after day one, Bryce Lewis is on pace for his fourth straight top-25 finish. Lewis shot even par for the day on Monday, recording his 16th round of par or better for the season.

Tennessee's final counting round on Monday came from Spencer Cross, who sits just outside the top 25 entering round two. Tied for 26th place, Cross shot 1-over for the day

The Vols' fifth score came from Rhys Nevin, who shot 3-over 75 and is tied for 41st place.
