Women’s Tennis Central: Senior Day
April 09, 2021 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 16-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team is set to host No. 40-ranked Alabama on Saturday for their final home contest of the 2021 dual-match season.
The Lady Vols (13-6, 7-4 SEC) are set to honor their lone graduating senior, Johanna Silva, prior to the match. LVFL Gabby Schuck, who completed her eligibility last season, will also be recognized on the court, as the COVID-19 global health crisis forced the cancellation of her Senior Day ceremonies a year ago.
First serve between the Big Orange and Crimson Tide (12-10, 3-9 SEC) is slated for noon ET at Barksdale Stadium.
All home matches played inside the Goodfriend Tennis Center will be conducted without fans per SEC COVID-19 protocols. Spectators at Barksdale Stadium will be limited to family and friends of the Tennessee women's tennis and visiting program, general admission is not permitted. Should the match be moved indoors the day of the match, those on the pass list will be permitted.

Last Time Out: The Lady Vols were dominant in a 4-1 win over No. 17-ranked Auburn on Thursday.
In the Series: UT holds a 38-18 record against Alabama all-time with an 18-7 record on Rocky Top.
UT has won the last six meetings between the pair of programs.
Johanna's Day: A Senior Day five years in the making, Silva enters her final match on Rocky Top as one of greats to don the Power T.
The Hamburg, Germany native is one of just 24 Lady Vols to accumulate 80 singles wins throughout their career, holding an 84-45 record. In doubles play, Silva holds an impressive 48-39 career record.
At the end of 2020, she earned ITA Most Improved Senior honors after recording a 16-4 solo record.
In her final year, Silva has been dominant in Southeastern Conference play, registering a 6-1 record in solo play. The senior holds a 19-15 career record in SEC play.
Silva is expected to compete at the No. 6 singles position, where she holds an impressive 6-1 mark this season and is a stout 13-4 in her career.
A 2019-20 Division I ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete and two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Silva graduates in May with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
