Men’s Golf Central: SEC Championship
April 20, 2021 | Men's Golf
The 21st-ranked Tennessee men's golf team is set to begin postseason play this week, heading down to Sea Island, Georgia, to compete in the SEC Championship.
The event, which runs from Wednesday through Sunday, features both stroke and match play. The top eight teams following Friday's third round of stroke play advance to match play, with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday and the championship on Sunday.
Due to the COVID-19 global health crisis suspending the season in mid-March last year, the SEC Championship was not held last spring. This spring's championships mark the 19th year for the SEC Championship to be contested on the Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course.
Tennessee has captured three SEC Championships in program history, most recently in 2007.
During its last appearance at the SEC Championships in 2019, Tennessee finished tied for fifth–its best finish at the conference championships in eight years. The Vols were eliminated in the quarterfinals of match play by Kentucky. The 2019 fifth-place finish stands as Tennessee's only appearance in the SEC Championships under the direction of head coach Brennan Webb.
