Men’s Golf Central: Old Waverly Collegiate Championship
March 25, 2021 | Men's Golf
The 15th-ranked Tennessee men's golf team hits the road for the second time in less than two weeks, traveling to West Point, Mississippi, for the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
First round competition begins on Friday and runs through Sunday with 18 holes of play each day. The tournament field consists of 14 teams, six of which are ranked inside the latest Golfweek top 25. Mississippi State is the host school for the tournament.
Tennessee is just over a week removed from the completion of its last tournament at the Tiger Invitational, where it finished ninth as a team. The Vols were led by top-20 finishes from both Spencer Cross and Hunter Wolcott.
VOLS' LINEUP
Hunter Wolcott
Tennessee's leader in stroke average for the 2020-21 season with a 71.28 mark, Wolcott is coming off of a 20th place finish at the Tiger Invitational—his fourth top-20 finish of the season.
Rhys Nevin
Nevin's 71.67 spring stroke average is the best on the team, while his 11 rounds of par or better are tied for the team lead. Nevin also is tied for the team lead in top-25 finishes with four, most recently at last month's LSU Invitational where he tied for 15th place.
Bryce Lewis
Lewis is Tennessee's leader in rounds of par or better and is one of three Vols with a sub-72 stroke average. Lewis has been a member of Tennessee's lineup for every tournament during the fall and spring.
Spencer Cross
Cross was the Vols' highest finisher at the Tiger Invitational, shooting 4-under and tying for 13th place. The Sevierville native has Tennessee's second-best stroke average during the spring.
Jake Hall
Hall is set to appear in Tennessee's lineup for the third time this season and make his fourth appearance overall. Hall's best finish came at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, where he shot 2-under and tied for 16th place overall.
VOLS' INDIVIDUAL
