Hudd and Mitsui Advance to Semifinals in Tulsa, Three Vols Compete at Bulldog Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Six members of the Tennessee men's tennis team were in action Friday, with three competing at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., and three participating in the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga.

In the doubles quarterfinals in Tulsa, the dynamic duo of senior Emile Hudd and freshman Shunsuke Mitsui rolled Friday, taking down Georgia's Hamish Stewart/Philip Henning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The nation's 48th-ranked doubles pair improved to 8-0 this fall, advancing to the semifinal round at the ITA All-American Championships.
Day one of the Bulldog Invitational saw junior Angel Diaz and graduate student Mark Wallner claim victory in doubles over Vanderbilt's Siim Troost and Michael Ross, 8-5.

On the singles courts in Athens, Bojan Jankulovski (Miami) defeated Wallner, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (4), Michael Ross (Vanderbilt) overcame Tennessee freshman Conor Gannon, 7-5, 6-3, and Jamie Connel of Furman beat Diaz, 6-3, 6-4.

In Tulsa, sophomore Johannus Monday dropped his round of 16 singles match, 6-4, 6-7(5), 3-6, to San Diego's August Holmgren.
