KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 10 Tennessee men's tennis team returns to action Friday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center as it hosts No. 38 Georgia Tech at 4 p.m. ET.
Admission is free to all regular-season matches and parking is available in Lot N-12 which is located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Volunteer Boulevard. A live stream as well as live results will be available for the match by visiting the men's tennis schedule page on utsports.com or on Twitter (@vol_tennis).
Tennessee's clear bag policy will be in effect.
Tennessee (10-1) won its last time out, defeating Duke on the road, 6-1. The Vols fell behind after dropping the doubles point, but rallied back by winning six three-set singles matches. At 10-1, UT is off to its best start since 2013 when it began that season by going 10-1.
Among players that have started five or more singles matches for the Vols, No. 23 Adam Walton and graduate student Giles Hussey remain unbeaten. Walton is on a career-long win streak, having won 10 matches to start the season, while Hussey checks in at 8-0.
In doubles, Hussey and junior Andrew Rogers broke into the top 60 of the ITA rankings this week at No. 52.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
Georgia Tech comes to Knoxville with a 6-2 record and riding a three-match win streak. The Yellow Jackets have won their last three against Georgia State (4-2 win), Auburn (4-1 win) and The Citadel (7-0 win).
Tennessee played Georgia State and The Citadel earlier in the season, winning both matches, 7-0.
The two losses suffered by GT came at the hands of SEC foes No. 13 Texas A&M and No. 31 Georgia. The Aggies beat the Yellow Jackets 4-0 and Georgia beat its in-state rival 4-1.
Andres Martin is the lone Yellow Jacket ranked in the ITA singles poll, coming in at No. 65. Georgia Tech does not have a doubles team ranked in the top 60.
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the 40th meeting all-time between Tennessee and Georgia Tech. The Vols lead the series 23-16 and have won the last two meetings. UT and GT have met each season since 2012 with the Big Orange going 6-2 during that span.
UP NEXT
Tennessee will stay with the Peach State flavor as it opens SEC play on the road against Georgia on Feb. 28.
