Tennessee Sweeps New Mexico 7-0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 18 Tennessee men's tennis team earned its second sweep of the season, defeating New Mexico 7-0 Saturday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
For the third-straight match the Vols got off on the right foot by winning the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. Junior transfer Mark Wallner made his Tennessee debut against the Lobos, pairing with Adam Walton in doubles.
The duo defeated Stepan Holis and Alex Maggs 6-2 before Giles Hussey and Scott Jones took down Facundo Bermejo and Dominic West 6-1. Hussey and Jones clinched the doubles point for UT and improved to 3-0 as a duo in dual matches.
Pat Harper and Andrew Rogers were up 5-4 on Raul Dobai and Jake Trondson when Tennessee clinched the doubles point. Their match went unfinished.
In singles, sophomore Martim Prata was the first Vol off the court as he defeated New Mexico's Sergio Molina 6-2, 6-1 on court three. Luca Wiedenmann and No. 23 Walton finished their matches back-to-back with Wiedenmann beating Dobai 6-0, 6-3 on four and Walton knocking off West on court one 6-0, 6-2.
Walton's win clinched UT's victory over New Mexico and gave the Big Orange a 4-0 lead in the match.
Rogers played on court six against Bermejo and after falling behind early in the opening set, rallied to knock off the Lobo 6-2, 6-2 for his second win of the dual match season.
Hussey remained unbeaten with his 6-3, 6-2 win over Rafael Abdulsalam on court five. The graduate transfer has three wins in dual match play in both singles and doubles and has played a key role in each of the Vols' wins.
Jones was the final Vol off the court Saturday as he rallied to defeat Holis 0-6, 6-3, 6-1. The senior Aussie dropped the opening set before coming back strong in the second and third sets to help close out Tennessee's sweep of New Mexico.
