MEN'S TENNIS CENTRAL: NC State/Georgia Tech

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No.15/26 Tennessee men's tennis team is heading on the road again this week, taking on No. 29 NC State on Friday and Georgia Tech on Sunday.
The match against NC State is set for 3 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C., followed by a trip to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Georgia Tech at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT:Â The Vols (6-1) are coming off a 4-0 win over Duke that was in Orlando, Fla., at the USTA National Campus.
RANKINGS: With new ITA rankings coming out on Feb. 20, the Vols were tabbed at 26th. In singles action, sophomore Adam Walton now ranks No. 94 and senior Timo Stodder is 113th. In the USTA Top 25 Tennis Polls, Tennessee is ranked No. 15.

WIEDENMANN ON FIRE:Â Junior Luca Wiedenmann is currently on a four match winning streak in dual matches. He collected one win at the No. 3 and No. 5 positions along with two in the sixth spot. Against Duke, he had a three set battle against Robert Levine. Wiedenmann eventually won the match 7-6 (3), 6-7 (5), 6-3.

SERIES HISTORY:Â Against NC State, the Vols are 3-1 with the series dating back to 1981. The last time Tennessee played the Wolfpack was in 2018, when UT fell 4-3 at home.
The Volunteers have a long history with Georgia Tech, dating back to 1927. Tennessee is currently 23-16 against the Yellow Jackets, with the most recent 4-3 win in 2018. UT has competed against Georgia Tech every year since 2012.

SCOUTING NC STATE:Â The Wolfpack is currently 7-2 overall and 6-1 at home. The only loss at home comes from the SEC's South Carolina, where the Gamecocks won 6-1. NC State is coming off a 6-1 win against Old Dominion on Feb. 17. NC State's Alexis Galarneau is ranked No. 43 in singles and is also No. 60 in doubles with Michael Ogden.
SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH: Georgia Tech has been undefeated at home with a 5-0 record in Atlanta and 5-3 overall. The Yellow Jackets also compete on Feb. 22 at Miami. Georgia Tech's last match was on Feb. 16, with a 4-3 loss to South Carolina. Georgia Tech also has two players ranked in the ITA, No. 36 Carlos Divar and No. 106 Cole Gromley.

UP NEXT:Â Following the road matches this week, Tennessee returns home to play MTSU on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The Big Orange then opens up SEC play on Friday, March 1, versus Georgia in Knoxville. Both matches take place at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
