October 03, 2019 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After a full week of training and a weekend off from competition, three members of the Tennessee tennis program travel down to Birmingham, Ala., this weekend for the Samford Round Robin.
Freshmen Jordan Chrysostom and Finn Stodder and redshirt freshman Mason Meier will represent the Big Orange in the tournament which runs Friday to Sunday, Oct. 4-6. The threesome will compete against opponents from several schools including, Alabama, Belmont, Middle Tennessee, Samford, Troy, Tulane and UAB.
The Samford Round Robin is a mock dual tournament which puts players from one school against another specific school in each round of play. The tournament draws will not be released until Friday morning.
Play begins each day at 9 a.m. with doubles while singles action is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Chrysostom is coming off a solid performance at the Princeton Farnsworth-Ivy Plus which saw him close the tournament with a third-place finish in doubles and a win in singles over Harvard's Bo Leschly.
Stodder likewise finished strong at the Ivy Plus, winning the Rockefeller doubles flight with Giles Hussey and capping the weekend with a singles victory over Columbia's Ben Gollin in two sets.
Meier joined the two true freshmen at Princeton and picked up two doubles wins and a singles triumph two weeks ago.
UP NEXT:
Several Vols will compete in the Saint Francis ITA All-American Championships which runs Oct. 5-13, while another contingent will head to Atlanta to participate in the Georgia Tech Invitational Oct. 12-14.
