Vols Earn 4-0 Win Over Rebels

OXFORD, Miss. -- Tennessee completed a weekend road sweep with a 4-0 win over Ole Miss on Sunday.
After beating Arkansas on Friday night, the Vols (15-4, 4-1 SEC) earned a hard-fought doubles point once again to get an early advantage over the Rebels (9-7, 1-5 SEC). The No. 73 ranked duo of Preston Touliatos and Luis Valero defeated 28th ranked Zvonimir Babic/Filip Kraljevic 6-1, but Andrew Rogers and Scott Jones were beat 6-3 on Court 2, setting up a deciding finish between Timo Stodder and Adam Walton against Cotter Wilson and Finn Reynolds. Stodder and Walton were able to pull out a 6-4 win to clinch the important doubles point for UT.
Luis Valero made it 2-0 Tennessee by winning his match against Babic on Court 3, 6-2, 6-0. Stodder, playing as the No. 20 singles player in the country, followed that up by beating 19th ranked Tim Sandkaulen 6-3, 6-1, before Walton closed out the win for the Vols with a victory over No. 103 Kraljevic 6-4, 6-3.
The Vols improved to 2-2 on the road, with two more matches away from home scheduled the rest of the regular season.
"Like I said after Arkansas, any time you can get a road win is huge," head coach Chris Woodruff said. "It's always good for the team and now our focus shifts to A&M."
UP NEXT: The Vols return home Friday night to take on No. 6 Texas A&M at 6 p.m. It will be the second test against a top 10 team for Tennessee this season, as UT dropped a 4-1 decision to then-No. 8 Texas on Jan. 28.
