Touliatos, Walton Win Doubles Title at Princeton
September 24, 2017 | Men's Tennis
Redshirt junior Preston Touliatos and freshman Adam Walton teamed up for a doubles title Sunday to start the fall season at the Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
Touliatos and Walton breezed past Jason Kros and Ryan Kros of Virginia Tech 8-3 to win the Black draw. It is the second career college title for Touliatos and his first since missing a majority of last year with injury.
Between singles and doubles, Walton went a combined 6-1 in his debut college tennis weekend. The native of Home Hill, Australia, logged his second ranked singles victory to close the tournament, beating No. 68 Jimmy Bendeck of Baylor 6-3, 6-4.
Touliatos also rolled to a 6-1 record. He lost just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Max Fliegner of Dartmouth in consolation Sunday.
At the Gator Ranked+1 on Florida's campus, junior Timo Stodder closed out the tournament with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 62 Trey Yates of Kentucky. Stodder was 3-1 in singles opening weekend. Sophomore Scott Jones compiled a 2-2 mark with two wins against top-125 opponents.
