March 26, 2026 | Track & Field
RALEIGH, N.C. – Tennessee sophomore Zouhair Redouane placed third overall in a field of more than 200 athletes in the men's 5,000-meter on Thursday at the Raleigh Relays, highlighting UT's performances on the opening night of the 2026 outdoor season.
The Moroccan international turned in a lifetime-best 13:36.94 to finish third in the fast heat at NC State. Redouane's time ranks third in the NCAA this season and second in program history—just one hundredth of a second shy of Dylan Jacobs' school record set in 2023.
Ethan Edgeworth also delivered a strong showing in the 5,000-meter, finishing 15th overall and 12th in his heat with a time of 13:47.56. The sophomore from Cullman, Alabama, ranks eighth on Tennessee's all-time outdoor list.
A pair of Vol freshmen competed unattached in the 5K as well, with Oliver MacDonald winning his heat in a lifetime-best 13:54.03. The mark improved his personal best by nearly a full minute and was four seconds faster than the current UT freshman record set last season by Hudson Betts (13:57.94). Additionally, Noah Harris clocked a 14:07.19 to record a new outdoor personal best.
Two Vols opened competition in the 1,500-meter, led by Gavin Genisio's 3:42.98 to finish 23rd in his outdoor season debut. Half-mile specialist Carter Knox also competed in the event, posting a personal-best 3:50.58.
UP NEXT: Tennessee concludes action in Raleigh on Friday with three Lady Vols competing at NC State. Tula Fawbush will run the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Andie-Marie Jones and Jaci Sievers are set to compete in the women's 5,000-meter.
