August 19, 2025 | Soccer
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 5/6 Tennessee soccer team is set to begin its four-match away stand with the trip out to No. 4 UCLA for a 10 p.m. match Wednesday at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The match can be streamed on BIG+ with Nick Koop and Sophie Wimmer on the call.
The Lady Vols (2-0) are coming off a hot start to the season after topping the top-ranked Tar Heels (8/14), 2-0 and defeating Eastern Kentucky, 9-0 (8/17).
UCLA opened their season at Georgia, coming out on top with a 1-0 win.
Wednesday's match marks the fourth meeting all-time between the two programs. Last season, the two squads met in Knoxville on Sept. 5, 2024 and tied 0-0.
YEAH, JOE:Â Tennessee soccer head coach Joe Kirt became the first head coach in program history to defeat a top-ranked team.
CHECK THE RANKINGS: Tennessee and UCLA are both ranked in the top 10. It is the first time since 2021 that the Lady Vols have faced another top-10 opponent while also holding a top10 ranking themselves. UT comes in at No. 5 in TopDrawerSoccer. com rankings and No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. UCLA is currently ranked No. 4 in both polls. The No. 6 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll ties the program's best ranking in that specific poll.

Coming off the bench, sophomore Alivia Stott matched a program record for most goals by one player in a single match scoring her first career goal in the 65th and tallying on four more in the next 19 minutes of play. It matched the largest margin of victory and shut out in program history. Tennessee's defense did not allow a single shot in a single game for the first time since Sept 5th, 2019. In its season-opener, Tennessee upset No. 1 North Carolina, 2-0. It was the first time in program history the Lady Vols have defeated a no. 1 ranked opponent.
