KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 16th-ranked Tennessee men's tennis team will host in-state foe Vanderbilt on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Barksdale Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee (15-5, 6-3 SEC) extended its conference win streak to 6 games, earning a pair of 4-3 victories over Alabama and Auburn. Crucial singles clinches were provided by Shunsuke Mitsui and Alejandro Moreno during those matches, and UT saw increased success in doubles, not losing a court in the early portion on the hard courts against the Crimson Tide and Tigers.
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
Vanderbilt (8-12, 1-9 SEC) currently sits at No. 56 overall in the ITA National Rankings. The Commodores picked up their lone SEC victory on the season on the road against LSU. Last season, their squad went 13-13 overall, making it to the NCAA First Round and eventually falling to Oklahoma State, 4-1.
UT is currently riding a five-match win streak over the Commodores dating back to the 2019 campaign. Overall, the Vols are 68-24 against Vanderbilt and won the most recent matchup in Nashville by way of a 6-1 decision.

With his singles clinch this past Saturday against Auburn, senior Shunsuke Mitsui now sits in sole possession of sixth in school history for career singles wins, totaling 121 for his career. This mark passes Mark Parsons (1997-2001) who earned 120 singles victories over his UT career.
NEW DOUBLES PAIR, NEW SUCCESS
The doubles pairing of Jose Garcia and James Newton provided two clutch victories in their first two matches playing together in doubles this past weekend for the Vols. Against Alabama, the duo clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 showing on court three, and versus Auburn they opened match play by way of an emphatic 6-2 win.
UP NEXT
Tennessee will hit the road again for matchups against South Carolina and Florida. The Vols will face the Gamecocks on April 3 at 5 p.m. ET and will then take on Florida on April 5 at 1 p.m.
