Dragos Cazacu Joins Vols For Spring 2026
December 10, 2025 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Head Men's Tennis Coach Chris Woodruff has announced the signing of Dragos Cazacu for the upcoming spring season.
"Dragos is someone we believe can translate all of his professional experience and success seamlessly to high level college tennis," associate head coach Matt Lucas said. "He's a very mature young man who has finished university in Romania, so we know the type of student athlete we are getting. Winning ITF Pro Circuit titles, all while doing his degree back home shows he will transition nicely to Tennessee in January."
Cazacu joins the Vols as a Graduate after spending time on the tour, where he achieved an ATP highest ranking of 763 in singles and 495 in doubles.
During his time in juniors, he reached a career-high ranking of 116 in the world, and he currently has a Universal Tennis Rating of 12.92.
The Romanian has an overall singles record of 91-101, which includes competition on the ATP tour and in ITF tournaments. He is 60-65 in doubles matches.
Some key performances from this year for Cazacu include an M15 Buzau doubles title, an M15 Curtea de Arges doubles title and an M15 Bastad doubles title.
The lefty joins six other newcomers, including three freshmen and three transfers, for the 2025-26 season.
