Softball Preview: #6 Lady Vols Ready for Top-10 Home Matchup with #3 Georgia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following a two-week SEC road swing, the sixth-ranked Lady Vols are back home in the friendly confines of Sherri Parker Lee for a three-game series against No. 3 Georgia.
Tennessee (28-5, 8-1 SEC) sits atop the SEC standings after opening league play with eight straight victories – marking the best start to conference action in program history. The Lady Vols also own a 17-game home-winning streak entering the weekend.

It wasn't May sweeps but the month of March was very good for the Lady Vols. Tennessee went 20-1 during March with a 12-0 mark at home and an 8-1 record on the road. In fact, the only loss came on the final day of the month.
Tennessee won 20 straight games in March and outscored its opponents 148-21. UT clubbed 41 home runs and slugged .605 as a team.
The pitching staff was just as strong, holding a 0.91 ERA during the month with 11 shutouts. UT's pitchers allowed just 21 runs to score – 18 earned – walked only 33 batters, while striking out 153.
Over 138 innings, opponents hit .153 against Tennessee pitching.

Tennessee has turned Sherri Parker Lee Stadium into a fortress over the past two seasons, going 22-4 at home in 2023 and holding a perfect 12-0 mark this season.
Dating to May 19, 2022, the Lady Vols have won 17 straight games at home – tied with Duke for the third-longest active home winning streak in the nation.
ANOTHER HISTORIC START
With series sweeps of then-No. 11 Missouri and then-No. 23 South Carolina, followed by wins over Auburn in games one and two of last weekend's series, Tennessee started conference play 8-0 for the first time in program history.
Last season, UT opened league action 7-0 with sweeps of Ole Miss and LSU before splitting the first two games of its series with Alabama.
