
Vols Dominate on Final Day of Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Members of Tennessee's tennis squad went undefeated in singles play to show out on the final day the Wake Forest Invitational, hosted at Wake Forest Tennis Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
The Vols collected 12 total wins during the weekend-long event, with #121 Angel Diaz going a perfect 3-0 on the singles courts.
Diaz secured a statement win over #30 Olle Wallin of Texas Tech in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, recording his second career victory over a top-50th ranked opponent.
Chris Li logged a 6-3,7-6(3) over Texas Tech's Lorenzo Esquici while Filip Apltauer overcame Cornell's Muhammad Dossani 7-5, 6-3. Filip Pieczonka claimed victory in a hard-fought three sets, defeating Samuel Paquette of Cornell 7-6, 3-6, 6-2.
"We made progress this weekend," associate head coach James McKie said. "Each day, I would say we got a little better. We have a lot of work to do but I'm looking forward to watching these guys improve through the fall and become closer as a team."
