Vols’ Strong Start In Singles Highlights ITA Regional Play

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Vols started out strong in singles, going 3-1 in the main draw of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships at Purdue University with Jan Kobierski, Boruch Skierkier and Jose Garcia all tallying wins.

Kobierski and Jose each earned victories in straight sets to win their round of 64 matches. Kobierski claimed victory over Birtan Duran of MTSU, and Garcia overcame Mathys Bove from Southern Indiana.

Skierkier, meanwhile, took care of Purdue's Nikola Jovic in three sets in his first-round match. That marks Skierkier's fourth match out of seven where it went the distance. Skierkier is perfect in all four of those matches.
