XC Preview: Crimson Classic & XC23 Pre-Nationals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 17th-ranked Vols and Lady Vols return to action this weekend with a pair of meets starting Friday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the Crimson Classic and concluding Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the XC23 Pre-Nationals meet.
Tennessee is sending five men and six women to Alabama, while a squad of nine Vols and nine Lady Vols will represent the Orange & White in Virginia.
CRIMSON CLASSIC
Race day for the Big Orange in Alabama gets underway Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET with the men's 8K across the Harry Pritchett Running Course. The women are set to follow with a 6K race beginning at 10:20 a.m.
Competing for UT at the Crimson Classic will be Canaan Anderson, Brody Chapman, Brendan Gomez, Connor Henson and Yordanos Zelinski on the men's side. Msgana Araya, Lia Pugsley, Julia Ray, Lauren Rutlin and Summer Schuster will feature for the women.

XC 23 PRE-NATIONALS
The pre-nationals meet on Saturday in Virginia will feature some of the best teams from around the country as they get a preview of the NCAA National Championships course at Panorama Farms.
Both the Vols and Lady Vols will run in the championship races, starting with the Men's Blue 8K at 9:40 a.m. ET. The Women's Blue 6K is set to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Yaseen Abdalla, Brett Brady, Dean Casey, Christopher Cherry, Jacob Lewis, Eli Nahom, Jacob Nenow, Brandon Olden and Gabriel Sanchez are scheduled to race for the men. For the women, Jillian Candelino, Kayla Gholar, Andie-Marie Jones, Ashley Jones, Chesney Peterson, Jessie Secor, Jaci Sievers, Rachel Sutliff and Callie Tucker are all slated to compete.
The XC23 Pre-Nationals will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. ACCNX is available through the ESPN app and at WatchESPN.com for customers who have the ACC Network as part of their TV subscription.

The men and women will have a week of training before traveling to Columbia, South Carolina, for the 2023 SEC Cross Country Championships. The conference meet is set for Friday, Oct. 27.
