May 23, 2022 | Men's Tennis
Rising sophomore Gabriele Brancatelli has signed an institutional aid agreement with Tennessee and will join the Vols' men's tennis team for the 2022-23 season.
"We are really looking forward to coaching Gabriele," associate head coach James McKie said. "He is going to bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm into our program. He's a talented player, great athlete and will develop quickly. He will be guided by older players and thrive under the internal leadership coming back next year."
Brancatelli arrives on Rocky Top after spending his freshman campaign at Purdue. Prior to joining the Boilermakers, the blue-chip, five-star recruit (Tennis Recruiting Network) climbed to No. 27 in the nation according to TRN. He holds a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 12.43.
In 2021-22, Brancatelli logged a 16-11 overall singles record, including a 10-4 mark in dual matches and a 6-2 record at the No. 2 lineup spot. Prior to landing in West Lafayette, Indiana, Brancatelli spent time living in Florence, Italy, New York and Palm Beach, Florida.
Brancatelli reached the fourth round of singles at the USTA National Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 2019 and knocked off multiple ITF Top-100 World Juniors during his career.
