Silva Claims 86th Career Solo Win, Lady Vols Fall to Aggies

Bryan-College Station, Texas – In the 2021 Tennessee women's tennis regular season finale against Texas A&M, senior Johanna Silva entered the top-15 in program singles wins.
When UT (14-7, 8-5 SEC) was down 2-1, the senior from Hamburg, Germany downed Riley McQuaid on court six in straight sets (6-3, 7-6(3)) to claim her 86th career singles win. She is now tied for 15th all-time in program wins at Tennessee.
The senior has been stout throughout her final campaign, registering an 8-4 dual-match record and is an impressive 8-1 against SEC opponents.
Down 2-0, junior Daria Kuczer earned a straight-set (6-1, 7-6) victory on court four to score UT's first point and cut the Aggie lead to 2-1. The junior downed Dorthea Faa-Hviding to move to an impressive 17-12 in dual match play this season and is 10-1 against SEC opponents.
After Silva claimed her match, senior Tenika McGiffin gave UT a 3-2 advantage with a three-set triumph over Renee McBryde. The senior from Brisbane, Australia holds a 14-4 record in dual-match play and is 9-4 against SEC opponents this season.
The Aggies (16-5, 8-3 SEC) picked up a win on court one to tie the match at 3-3. Unconventionally, doubles play began after singles and Texas A&M took the doubles point with wins on courts three and two to claim the match.
