Men's Tennis Central: #5 Tennessee vs. #8 Texas A&M

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After securing the second seed at the 2021 SEC Tournament, the No. 5 Tennessee men's tennis team will conclude its regular season with a senior day showdown with No. 8 Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at Barksdale Stadium. First serve for Sunday's match is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
Pre-match, Tennessee will honor departing seniors, Joel Gamerov, Giles Hussey, Andrew Rogers and Luca Wiedenmann.

Attendance for matches played outside at Barksdale stadium will be limited to those individuals on the student athlete and coach pass list. Should the match move indoors to the Goodfriend Tennis Center, those on the pass list will still be able to attend.
LAST TIME OUT
On Friday afternoon, the Vols downed No. 40 LSU, 4-1, on the backs of dominant play in singles action.
After dropping just its fifth doubles point of the season, Wiedenmann, Hussey, Rogers and freshman Johannus Monday rolled to straight-set triumphs on courts four, five, six and two to give the Vols their 20th win overall and their ninth in SEC play.
Following the Vols victory and Georgia's defeat of Texas A&M, UT arrives at Sunday's match having locked up the second seed at the SEC Tournament in Fayetteville in just over a week.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M
A&M arrives in Knoxville off of a tough, 4-2, loss at Georgia on Friday night. The result dropped the Aggies to 14-6 overall and 6-4 in SEC play.
In the all-time series between the program, Texas A&M leads, 12-5, dating to 1974. A win in Sunday's match would be Tennessee's first victory over the Aggies since knocking off the boys from College-Station twice in 2013, both coming in tight, 4-3, affairs.
In the ITA Rankings, the Aggies feature six ranked singles players and on ranked doubles pair. In the singles rankings, all six in A&M's lineup are ranked inside the top-90 (No. 2 Hady Habib, No. 5 Valentin Vacherot, No. 64 Juan Carlos Aguilar, No. 77 Noah Schachter, No. 78 Pierce Rollins and No. 85 Barnaby Smith) and its doubles tandem of Juan Carlos Aguilar and Bjorn Thomson are ranked eighth in the country.

A victory in Sunday's match would be Luca Wiedenmann's 112th career singles win, placing him in a tie for seventh on Tennessee's all-time singles wins list with VFL Adam Carey.
HOME SWEET HOME TO US
A win on Sunday would push the Vols to a perfect 13-0 record at home and would mark the first time the Vols have finished undefeated at home in the regular season since 2011, when UT advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee will take over a week off, before traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the SEC Tournament April 19-23. As a result of the Vols earning the tournament's two-seed, the Vols opening match will be in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, April 21 against the winner of the 7 vs. 10 matchup at a time still to be determined.
