LAST TIME OUT
Last time out, the Vols swept past Ole Miss, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon earning victories in all 14 completed sets.
In doubles, the duos of graduate student Giles Hussey and senior Mark Wallner and junior Martim Prata and freshman Johannus Monday earned 6-1 and 6-3 results to claim the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead for UT.
In singles, straight-set triumphs from Monday, junior Pat Harper and Hussey clinched match point at 4-0, before graduate student Luca Wiedenmann, junior Martim Prata and senior Adam Walton finished the sweep.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA
The Gamecocks enter Friday's matchup with a 7-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in SEC play.
South Carolina features three singles players ranked inside the ITA's top-125 (No. 32 Daniel Rodrigues, No. 81 Raphael Lambling, No. 118 Connor Thomson) and two ranked doubles pairs (No. 43 Daniel Rodrigues and Connor Thomson and No. 59 Raphael Lambling and Philip Jordan).
Coming into this season's match, Tennessee holds a 34-20 series edge over the Gamecocks in a series dating to 1968. Tennessee has earned wins in each of the last two contests between the programs, along with 12 of the last 14 meetings.
THIS MAY BE GETTING A BIT RIDICULOUS
Freshman Johannus Monday is now the six-time reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, doing so most recently after knocking off two more ranked opponents in this weekend's victories over No. 22 Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Monday has now amassed seven ranked wins and his last five singles dual match victories have come over ranked opponents.
THE STREAK CONTINUES
Tennessee has won 32 consecutive matches when winning the doubles point, doing so in both of its home wins last weekend. The streak is nearing its two-year anniversary as it dates to March 31, 2019.
UP NEXT
Tennessee will conclude its weekend road trip when it continues its trek south to take on SEC rival, No. 10 Florida on Sunday afternoon. First serve from Gainesville is slated for Noon ET.
