KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Following a dominant victory over in-state foe Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon, the No. 3 Tennessee men's tennis team takes on its 13th ranked opponent of the 2021 dual season when it welcomes the 20th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats to Knoxville on Sunday afternoon. First serve from Barksdale Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Live stats will be provided by UTsports.com and can be found here, while live video can be seen through Playsight which can be found here.
Attendance for home matches played outside at Barksdale Stadium, is limited to individuals on the student athlete and coach pass list for the 2021 dual season.
LAST TIME OUT
The Vols ripped past Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon, 7-0, breezing through the doubles point and grabbing three straight-set victories in singles to clinch match point at 4-0.
The Vols have now clinched all 10 of their home matches at 4-0, winning each doubles point and the three subsequent singles matches.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY
Tennessee leads its all-time series with the Wildcats, 51-43, dating to 1930. In what has largely been a back-and-forth series between the programs, the Vols are riding a three-match win streak over UK.
UT's win streak is its longest in the series since winning three in a row from 2009-2011. A win on Sunday would give the Orange & White its most consecutive wins over the Wildcats since claiming four in a row from 1998-2001.
Kentucky arrives in Knoxville with a 14-4 overall record and a 4-3 mark in SEC play. On Friday, the Wildcats fell in a tight, 4-3, decision at Georgia.
In the rankings, Kentucky features four singles players (No. 22 Liam Draxl, No. 46 Gabriel Diallo, No. 84 Joshua Lapadat and No. 125 Millen Hurrion) and two doubles pairs (No. 20 Cesar Bourgois/Gabriel Diallo and No. No. 76 Millen Hurrion/Tate Sandman) in the ITA's singles top-125 and doubles top-80.
JOMO STAYS PERFECT IN SEC PLAY
Tennessee freshman Johannus Monday battled through to a three-set victory over Vanderbilt's George Harwell, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, to remain unbeaten against SEC competition. Monday is 8-0 in league action with six of those victories coming against ranked opponents.
UP NEXT
The Vols will take a week off, before embarking on their last road trip of the regular season with a SEC contest with Arkansas next Sunday. First serve from Fayetteville is slated for 2 p.m. ET.
