Lady Vols Drop SEC Opener

ATHENS, Ga. – Sunday afternoon saw the No. 19-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team fall to fifth-ranked Georgia on the road, 4-0.
Tennessee (6-3, 0-1 SEC) surrendered the doubles point to open the match. Senior Tenika McGiffin and freshman Eleonora Molinaro were ahead 4-2 on court two as the point was clinched.
Georgia (5-1, 1-0 SEC) collected singles wins over No. 118-ranked sophomore Carly Briggs on court two, Molinaro on court one then No. 52-ranked junior Rebeka Mertena on court three.
After dropping the opening set on court four, McGiffin was ahead 4-2 in the second frame over No. 73-ranked Morgan Coppoc as the match ended.
Up next, the Lady Vols travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on Mississippi State on Friday, Feb. 26 art 4 p.m. ET.
