Vol Tennis Releases 2022 Spring Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2021 SEC Tournament Championship winning and national semifinalist Tennessee men's tennis team announced its 2022 spring schedule Monday.
UT's spring consists of 22 dual matches, with 15 in Knoxville and seven on the road. Tennessee boasts an impressive 39-4 record in home dual matches over the past three seasons, including 22-straight victories of such dating back to January 2020.
The Vols' dual match slate includes nine top-20 opponents from the Final Computer Rankings administered by the ITA in May and 14 top-50 teams.
The spring begins with a home doubleheader for the Big Orange, as the Vols host ETSU on Jan. 12. The first road match of the year will come on Jan. 16, as Tennessee travels to TCU for the spring's third match.
Following a week layover, UT will gear up for another home doubleheader, this time versus Wake Forest and Tennessee Tech.
The 2022 ITA Kickoff event (Jan. 28-29) will be hosted in Knoxville for the first time since the 2020 spring season. Old Dominion, Memphis and Western Michigan will join the Vols for the four-team competition.
Tennessee will play Old Dominion on Jan. 28 and either Memphis or Western Michigan on the 29. The team that finishes 2-0 on the weekend will qualify for the ITA Indoor National Championships in Seattle, Washington.
Charlotte and Columbia travel to Rocky Top for a three-team round robin weekend spanning Feb. 11-13. Tennessee will take on the 49ers of Charlotte Feb. 12, before facing Columbia on Feb. 13.
The ITA Indoor Nationals will take place in Seattle from Feb. 17-21, should the Vols qualify.
March 1 sees Furman pay the Vols a visit for Tennessee's final non-conference dual match. UT begins SEC play with a road trip to Mississippi to take on the Bulldogs of Mississippi State on March 4 and the Ole Miss Rebels on March 6.
A three-match homestand versus South Carolina (March 11), Florida (March 13) and Georgia (March 20) is succeeded by a road trip to face Texas A&M and LSU on March 25 and 27, respectively.
After Tennessee plays host to Arkansas on April 1, it will travel to Kentucky (April 8) and Vanderbilt (April 10) for its final road contests of the regular season. Matches against Alabama on April 15 and Auburn for senior day on April 17 round out the regular season.
The 2022 SEC Championships are set to run April 20-24 and be hosted by Georgia in Athens. The NCAA Men's Tennis Championships will be hosted by Illinois and held May 19-28 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at the Atkins Tennis Center.
