Three Vols Advance at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Three Vols on the Tennessee men's tennis team advanced during the first day of main draw action at the ITA All-American Championships Wednesday.

Sophomore Johannus Monday advanced to the singles round of 32, while the 48^th-ranked duo of senior Emile Hudd and freshman Shunsuke Mitsui advanced to the round of 16 in doubles play.

In doubles action Wednesday evening, Hudd and Mitsui claimed victory over the nation's 4^th-ranked doubles pair and the tournament's No. 2-seeded pairing, defeating South Carolina's Rodrigues and Thomson in a third-set super tiebreak, 6-7(3) 7-6(5) 10-5.

Despite dropping set one in his round of 64 singles match, Monday, the nation's sixth-ranked singles player, battled back to defeat No. 125 Tim Zeitvogel of Pepperdine, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

UT senior Martim Prata (No. 29) fell in the singles round of 64 Wednesday to No. 86 Ben Shelton (Florida) 4-6, 2-6.
