Four Vols Set for Main Draw Action at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – After the doubles pair of Emile Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui claimed victory Tuesday to advance out of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships, four members of the Tennessee men's tennis team are now set to compete in the singles and doubles main draws Wednesday.

Sophomore Johannus Monday and senior Martim Prata will represent the Vols in singles action, while the doubles courts will see the 48th-ranked pairing of Hudd and Mitsui compete for a doubles crown in Tulsa.

As qualifying matches concluded Tuesday, Hudd and Mitsui's 1-6, 6-3, 10-5, victory over Arizona State's McKennon/Salle secured their spot into the event's round of 32 doubles main draw.

Three Vols earned victories in the consolation round of singles qualifying Tuesday. Mark Wallner took down Ilgiz Valiev of Texas Tech, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, while freshman Conor Gannon came away with a 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-2 win over Harvard's Ronan Jachuck.

Big Orange senior Hudd was also victorious in his final singles match of the event, defeating Oklahoma State's Francisco Pini, 6-2, 6-2.

Tuesday's singles qualifying saw Mitsui fall to Stefan Dostanic (USC), 6-1, 6-7(4), 5-7.
