Cross County Preview: SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the SEC Championships in Columbia, Missouri. The meet will begin at 11:05 a.m. ET with the men's 8k, followed by the women's 6k at noon.
The championships will be televised on SEC Network, with a streaming link available here. Official timing results are available at pttiming.com or by following this link.
The Vols and Lady Vols will each field 10 runners at the Gans Creek Cross Country course. The men return four of their five scorers from a year ago, led by 2020 All-SEC performer Karl Thiessen.
The men's squad finished fourth at SECs last season, marking their third top-five finish at the conference meet in the past four years.
For the women, they make their return to the SEC Championships after missing last season due to multiple student-athletes being sidelined due to COVID-19 contact tracing. They are led by the senior duo of Sydney Seymour and Katie Thronson.
Seymour and Thronson have combined for five top-15 finishes this season, including a pair of first-place finishes by Seymour at the Tennessee Dual and FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals meet.
