KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 19th-ranked Tennessee men's tennis team earned its first SEC win of the season Friday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center, defeating No. 41 Mississippi State, 6-1.
"Any win in this league is a good win," head coach Chris Woodruff said. "I tell the guys all the time, we just play as hard as we can and take it one match at a time. We got a good win tonight against a solid Mississippi State team and now we have to refocus and get ready for Ole Miss on Sunday."
Tennessee (12-2) got on track early in the match as it won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. The duo of Mark Wallner and Pat Harper continues to impress as they beat MSU's Giovanni Oradini and Stedman Strickland 6-3 on court two.
