FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Tennessee women's golf team concluded its opening tournament of 2020-21, in a tie for 11th place (+60, 924), as Arkansas claimed the team title at The Blessing's Collegiate Invitational on Wednesday in Fayetteville.
"It was great to be back out competing again," head coach Judi Pavon said. "It was a unique opportunity to see each player for all 54 holes. We learned a lot about their games and they learned a lot about each other."
Overall, the Orange & White struggled with the slopes, narrow fairways and plethora of bunkers The Blessings Golf Club had to offer.
"This course really amplifies any weaknesses in your game," Pavon continued. "But, we definitely know what to work on as we progress over the next 10 days."
Sophomore Nicole Whiston was the low Lady Vol on the week, finishing in a tie for 28th at 12-over (228). Whiston was also fired home the best score for UT during Wednesday's final round, with a consistent 3-over mark of 75.
Freshman Vanessa Gilly finished one stroke behind Whiston (+13, 229) in her first career collegiate tournament.
Junior Mikayla Bardwell was the final Lady Vol to break 80 on the afternoon, carding a score of 7-over (79) to finish the week in a tie for 43rd at +18 (229).
Graduate student Micheala Williams (+21, 237) and senior Waverly Whiston (+29, 245) rounded out the Tennessee lineup finishing in 54th and a tie for 65th respectively.
