Tennessee Earns Six Wins in Day Two of Michigan Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The 22nd-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team (2-0) picked up one doubles win and five singles wins on Saturday at the Michigan Invitational.
The UT pair of freshman Carly Briggs and senior Ariadna Riley got the day started with a 6-2 win over TCU's Stevie Kennedy and Marie Norris. The duo's win was their first as a duo.
In singles play, sophomore Julie Ball tabbed a win over Michigan's Lanie Van Linge, 7-5, 7-5, to earn her first solo win of the invitational.
Lady Vols sophomore Rebeka Mertena won her fourth straight singles match, defeating Michigan's No. 85-ranked Andrea Cerdan 7-5, 6-2.
Tennessee freshman Hadley Doyle battled for three sets and triumphed over Michigan's Chiara Lommer, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Doyle improved to 4-0 collegiately and earned her first three-set victory of her career.
Freshman Callie Creath and senior Johanna Silva also picked up three-set wins. Creath defeated Michigan's Lera Patiuk, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, to pick up her first singles win of the weekend. Silva won, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, over Michigan's Nicole Hammond.
The Lady Vols conclude the Michigan Invitational with singles play against Ohio State and doubles against Michigan beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
