Five Vols Wrap Up Tennis Action on Sunday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Five Tennessee men's tennis players wrapped up their weekends on Sunday as action ended at the M15 Champaign Futures tournament and the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall.
Playing in his first-ever professional final at the M15 Champaign Futures, junior Adam Walton battled against Stanford's Axel Geller. The fourth-seeded Geller took the first set, 6-3, but Walton rallied back in the second, winning 6-4, forcing a deciding third set.
Walton fell in the final set, 3-6, dropping his first match of the fall season. The Home Hill, Australia native is now 7-1 on the year. He began his run in Champaign in the qualifying draw where he won three-straight matches in two sets, clinching his spot in the main draw.
He won the opening match of the main draw in two sets before moving on to defeat the third-seeded Nick Chappell in three sets. Walton knocked off former Stanford Cardinal and three-time All-American Tom Fawcett in two sets and then dispatched Matheus Pucinelli De Almedia in three in the semifinal round to set up his finals match against Geller.
Down in Tuscaloosa, Ala., sophomore Martim Prata picked up his fourth victory of the fall as he knocked off Georgia's Erik Grevelius, 7-5, 6-2, closing out his weekend at the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall.
Jordan Chrysostom picked up the second win of his career in comeback fashion on Sunday. The true freshman dropped the opening set to Alabama's Avi Shugar, 1-6, but rallied to win the match, 6-3, 6-4, as he took the final two sets.
Freshman Finn Stodder and redshirt freshman Mason Meier fell in their final singles matches at the Four-In-The-Fall. Stodder dropped a three-setter to Tim Reutzel of Tulane, 4-6, 6-2, 5-7, and Meier fell in three to Tulane's Henry Lovett, 2-6, 6-4, 3-6.
Both doubles teams finished runner-up at the Four-In-The-Fall Championships. The pairing of Chrysostom/Prata fell in the finals of the Crimson draw to Alabama's Alexey Nesterov/Riccardo Roberto, 8-5.
In the Houndstooth draw, Meier/Stodder dropped their doubles final to Michal Lusovsky/Roman Postolka from UAB, 8-2.

The team will split this coming weekend as the Vols will compete at South Carolina in the Gamecock Invitational, at the Milwaukee Classic in Milwaukee, Wis., and at the Farnsworth Ivy Plus at Princeton University. All three tournaments run Friday to Sunday, Sept. 20-22.
