MEN’S TENNIS CENTRAL: Vanderbilt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee's 15th-ranked men's tennis team returns to action this weekend with two matches, beginning on Friday at No. 30 Vanderbilt.
The Vols (16-6, 6-4 SEC) enter the match as winners of their last five, including four wins against SEC opponents. This is the final weekend of the regular season with the SEC Tournament starting on April 17 in Gainesville, Fla. UT is tied for fourth in the SEC with Georgia but the Bulldogs own the tiebreaker over the Vols.
Friday's first serve in Nashville is slated for 5 p.m. ET from Vanderbilt's Currey Tennis Center.
Tennessee is coming off a win over No. 44 Arkansas, 4-0, last Friday. The Big Orange cruised to the victory, winning the doubles point before taking wins in singles on courts one, three and five. All three singles wins came in two sets.
CLICKING IN DOUBLES: The Vols have found their rhythm in doubles, having won the doubles point in the last three matches. Ninth ranked Timo Stodder and Preston Touliatos have been a big factor as the duo has won six-straight doubles matches.
The six consecutive victories is the longest doubles win streak for Stodder in his career.
STODDER STREAKING AGAIN: To go along with his streak in doubles, Stodder has strung together five-straight wins in singles play. Four of those five victories have come against ranked opponents. On the year, Stodder in 18-8 with an 11-6 record in dual matches while having a 7-3 mark in SEC play.
The Berlin, Germany native's 90 career wins places him in a tie with Chris Mahony and Hunter Reese for 14th all-time in program history.
RANKINGS: The Vols remained in the top 15 in this weeks ITA Tennis rankings, coming in at No. 15. It is the seventh week in a row UT has been in the top 25 and the third consecutive week it has been in the top 15.
In singles, Stodder jumped eight spots to No. 29 while Adam Walton moved up three places to No. 69. Touliatos and Stodder broke into the top 10 on the doubles side, coming in this week at No. 9.
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES: Vanderbilt enters Friday's showdown with a 14-7 overall and 4-5 SEC record. The Commodores are 1-4 in their last five, including a, 4-3, loss to Texas A&M in their last match. However, Vandy has been good at home, boasting a 9-2 mark in Nashville this season.
Cameron Klinger is Vanderbilt's lone player ranked in the ITA singles top 125, ranked at No. 74. In the ITA doubles rankings, Klinger and partner Billy Rowe made a big jump this week. The duo moved up 42 spots to No. 33 but they are the Commodores' only ranked pairing.
SERIES HISTORY: One of Tennessee's oldest rivals, the series with Vanderbilt dates back to 1927. UT enjoys a comfortable lead in the matchup as the Vols hold a 55-16 advantage in the all-time series. However, Vandy has won five-straight over UT, including last year's match which it won, 4-3.
UP NEXT: Tennessee will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 14 on the road at Kentucky. First serve in Lexington is scheduled for 1 p.m.
